Are you wondering why you haven’t taken the leap to start your own business? Do you even know why? If you think you don’t know the answer, I’m going to disagree with you. The truth is you do know the answer; however, the answer may be hidden by these three very sneaky enemies.
Ninety five percent of people live with one of these three enemies. Do you want to know what they are? This week I’m going to reveal why ninety-five percent of smart women just like you live with one or even all three enemies. Knowing this is vital for your own manifestation process.
I meet smart women every day. One thing they all have in common is the fact that they work very hard. They are often a bit too dedicated to their career or family. On the surface everything looks good. They seem to be happy and content with their life; however, once we get into a deeper conversation a different truth is revealed. The truth is they feel that they have something more to offer to the world beside being a mom or sitting behind a cubicle. I can’t blame you or fault you for that because until you are doing what you are called to do you will never be happy. Whether that is writing your own books, starting your own skincare line, launching your own clothing line, etc. Until you do it, you will never experience true happiness.
I know you desire to have the freedom to do what you want to do instead of what you have to do. I also know that you desire to create another income stream that allows you to buy your dream house and take your dream vacations, or perhaps pay for kids’ college educations; however, you’ve never taken the first step. With every passing year you become a little less optimistic about starting your own business. The older you get the more you doubt that will be able to create a business you love. I want you to remember that Louise Hay started The Hay House Company at the age of fifty-seven, so it’s never too late.
If you haven’t been able to take the first step towards your dream of ditching your day job, it’s because you are living with one of the sneakiest enemies of all time — FEAR. Fear and doubt go hand in hand. When you are in doubt, you become fearful. The fear of not having what you want moves you away from whatever it is that you desire.
You may argue you are not fearful but deep down inside you really are afraid. How did you find yourself living with this enemy? Because it’s human nature. Your ego doesn’t like change. The ego likes things the way they are and your ego will do anything and everything to keep you in your comfort zone.
Your ego loves this game. How do you solve this problem? First, you have to come to an understanding of your own fears. Your objective is not to get rid of the fear but to get an understanding of your fear and to act despite your fear. What do I mean by this? Well you have to take your first step, whatever that first step may be. For me, it was working on becoming a stronger version of me so I could shut the committee in my head that kept telling me that it wasn’t possible for a child of Haitian immigrants to live the life I wanted to live.
The second enemy you are living with right now is NEED. You may feel you need this so badly that you can’t possibly be happy until you get it. Not being happy right now in this very moment keeps you from manifesting your desires. Need comes from fear and again fear pushes everything away. It keeps you in a state of fear, you will never take an inspired action to move you closer to your desires. It’s a nasty little fight between the ego and the spirit. What you need to understand is your spirit knows how to get you exactly what you want and desire. You need to enlist the help of the spirit.
Here’s what you can do when you feel you’re stuck — you step into the present moment and accept your life just the way it is. I know it’s easier said than done but you can grab a journal and write down what you are grateful for right this minute. You can consciously choose to not entertain these self-destructive thoughts. The problem is not the constant thought of lack that keeps you where you’re at, it’s entertaining these thoughts. The more you entertain the thought that “it’s not possible to quit my day job” the more this becomes your reality. What you do when you entertain these thoughts is create your future.
Now are you ready to get acquainted with enemy number three? The third enemy is OBLIGATION. You feel obligated to your job. You feel obligated to your career, either because you’re afraid you will let your family down or you simply don’t know what else to do outside of your career. Here’s the problem with obligation — when you are doing anything out of obligation it becomes joyless, it’s not fun. That’s why being at your current job is so painful. Here’s what happens when you live your life based on obligations — you get an invitation to take a trip to Costa Rica to attend a Mastermind on how to jump-start your business. You would love to go but you feel obligated to the projects that are going on in the company you work for. You feel obligated to your career, or perhaps taking care of your ill parents. You decide to not go on the trip. The truth is, if you had taken the time to go you would have had a boatload of fun and this would put you in touch with your higher self. And you would more than likely have an “ah-ha” moment on what steps you can take towards your goal to ditch your day job.
Fear, need, and obligation take you out of your higher self. When you are out of your higher self, your ego takes over. Your ego is really the only thing that is keeping you from manifesting your heart’s desire. As real as these enemies are, you won’t look for a solution if you stay attached to fear, need, and obligation.
What’s your greatest fear when it comes to starting your own business?
